To mark the end of their 2022 Week, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Ebonyi State chapter, organized a public speaking competition for the two major universities in Ebonyi State – Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) and Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Abakaliki.

The theme of the competition was” The Nigerian of our Dream Come 2023: A Call for Redefined Professionalism and Transparency in the Practice of Public Relations”
After a keenly contested competition marked with serious intellectual intercourse and shear display of oratory prowess by the students, the AE-FUNAI representatives made up of Ezeokoli Izuchukwu and Osim Bassey, both 400 level students of the University, were adjudged winners with 36 points.

Of late students of the University have been making waves in public speaking and debate competitions accross the country, with the Debate Team of the University meant to represent the country in Kenya later this year .
The event which held at ANSON Hotel and Suites, Ajacent Roban Stores, Old Enugu Road, Abakali, on Friday, 16th September, 2022 also witnessed the unveiling of the Volume 3, No. 2 of the South -East Journal of Public Relations, a publication of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Ebonyi State
While commending the students of the two universities for their intellect, oratory ability and capacity for logical reasoning, the immediate past Chairman of the Institute in Ebonyi State, Mr. Barry Oko Enya noted that he was awed by their presentations and good grasps of the topic of discussion.

He also used the opportunity to encourage the Nigerian youths to take their destinies in their hands by ensuring professionalism and transparency in their chosen fields of endeavour, in order to achieve the goal of making Nigeria the country of their dream.
