The National Universities Commission (NUC) has given approval for the full accreditation of 7 academic programmes of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State.

The regulatory body conveyed the credence in a letter dated 14th April, 2022, signed on behalf of its Executive Secretary by the Director of Accreditation,Dr. Maryann Sali.

The fully accredited programmes include; Fisheries and Aquaculture (Faculty of Agriculture), Physiology (Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences), Agricultural Science Education (Faculty of Education), Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering (Faculty of Engineering and Technology), Biotechnology (Faculty of Biological Sciences) and Statistics (Faculty of Physical Sciences).

According to Dr. Sali, the implication of the full accreditation is that the status will last for a period of 5 years before the programmes will be presented to the regulatory body for another round of accreditation exercise.

Recall that the University presented these programmes to the NUC for accreditation during their October/November, 2021 national accreditation exercise.


The outstanding performance (100%) of the University in the accreditation exercise underscores the commitment of the institution under the leadership of Prof. Sunday Oge Elom to quality teaching and learning through the provision of the necessary human and material resources, and infrastructure. The  Vice-Chancellor had also vowed on assumption of office to ensure that all academic programmes of the University is approved and accredited by the National Universities Commission and relevant professional bodies.
