NATIONAL DEFENCE COLLEGE, COURSE 32 VISITS AE-FUNAI ON STUDY TOUR

Members of the Course 32, National Defence College (NDC), Abuja on Wednesday 8th November, 2023 visited Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State on a study tour themed ‘’Strengthening National Unity for Security and National Development in Nigeria”.

Speaking on the purpose of their visit, the team leader, Brig. Gen, J.A. Ifeanyi, stated that the National Defence College (NDC), Abuja,  is the highest military training institution in Nigeria, established in 1992 with  the objective of preparing  senior  officers of the Armed forces of Nigeria and foreigners , and also senior civilians in government Ministries, Departments and  Agencies (MDAs) for leadership and strategic development.

He noted that the NDC has overtime acquired mileage as the Centre for excellence for peace support operations, integrated as ECOWAS Centre for peace support operation, while stressing that the College has partnered with universities for award of degrees to  participants as well as accept sabbatical fellows from various universities.

Brig. Gen. Ifeanyi, maintained that the objective of the tour was to enlighten participants on the socio-economic political environment of Ebonyi state, leveraging on the theme and also to interac with the university management on different issues pertaining to national integration.

 Welcoming the military contingent  to the University, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution Prof. Sunday Elom, intimated the participants of the University’s sustained efforts to national integration through its robust academic and administrative activities that give opportunities to all sections of the country irrespective of tribe or religion.

He also  informed them of the seriousness of the University’s academic activities as well as the  remarkable growth achieved under his watch within the limit of resources available.

He reiterated that as a federal institution, the University gives equal opportunities to staff and students from  every part of the country and beyond, to work and study in their chosen profession.

‘’We do not discriminate here, everybody enjoys equal opportunity, the VC said’’.

The contingent was composed  of 18 distinguished participants made up of 4 officers from the Nigerian Army, 4 from the Nigerian Navy and 2 from the Nigerian Air force. Others include 1 participant from the Nigerian Police, 1 from the Defence intelligence Agency, 1 from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and 1 from National Defence College as well as 4 International participants from Brazil, Nepal, Zimbabwe and Morocco.
